For those of you who do not live in either California, Florida, Louisiana or Latin America, you can not familiar with a merliton. Perhaps the name, chayote, vegetable pear, mango squash, cho-cho, christopher xuxu or ringing a bell. They all refer to this versatile pumpkin vegetables such as cultivated throughout the world and is called by different names. Historically, it was a primary food of the Aztecs and Mayans.
What exactly is a Merliton?
